Shadow Ridge Builders prepares quantity takeoffs and complete construction cost estimates for minor and major construction projects. SRB compares the cost design alternatives; performs cost analysis and value engineering, and reviews quotes and change orders prepared by others. Information on sizing, productivity, equipment requirements, design standards, and engineering factors help derive the final bid proposal.

Several different levels of estimates are used to project construction costs. SRB uses two estimating methods: 1. Assemblies (System) Estimates 2. Unit Price Estimates. An assembly's estimate is best used as a budgetary tool in the planning stages of a project. Accuracy is expected at -10% to +20%. Working plans and full specifications are required to complete a unit price estimate. It is the most accurate, but also the most time-consuming and is used primarily for bidding purposes. Accuracy is expected at -5% to +10%.
